I want to register an org.uk domain but have a problem We are talking about <noun><noun>_org_uk name. Both are common English words. The problem is, they have direct meaning and completely non-related meaning which is also becoming popular and company applied for a TM. Trademark is NOT registered yet, but under application.

I am confused. Should a reg this name?

This is an awkward one mate, if they are both actual words and not made up then as long as you don't have a site related to their product or service then you should be fine.

You don't have to have a trademark registered in order to protect it, you only have to prove that you have been using it.

Reg it and see if they approach you but don't use it to sell similar products or services as the company you talk about.

* this is not legal or expert advice and I claim no responsibilty should you act upon my advice.

Good luck 8)

Cheers, mate! Appreciated.

The problem is: apart from the completely unrelated product it is also a name of... well known holiday resort  which I was actually after.

Again if it's a generic word like a dictionary word or popular slang then you could for example have a motor repair centre, a cafe and a solictors all using the same noun noun if you know what I mean ?

Like you couldn't sell computers using the name Apple but could have an employment agency called Apple.

Hope this helps

Yep! That what I thought. I have similar domains which are TM, let's say in one area, but I use it in other (common words rule). But for this one... I better skip it, company i big enough and I can't afford the hassle ;) I found "cleaner" one to reg.
