I was just wondering , lets say a domain name just used for pure example:-

If a domain is used across the board on all the major uk TLDs but all of them are either Parked or coming soons sites , basically nothing on the page , not even a basic 1 page site.

But a weaker uk TLD was available , would the site be more likely to rank quickly and highly ? due to google seeing just landing pages on the other versions ?

i know its down to content and seo , but i was wondering if that made weaker UK Tlds still worth considering ?

General opinion is that it is worth developing a site in this situation, but you need to appreciate the hierarchy of TLDs.

If the .com is taken and parked, you can work on the .net or the co.uk / org.uk and get a good result. But if your site takes off, people may get interested, learn from what you have done, and buy the .com or .net. If they do that, they might overtake your success by aggressive SEO.

The best strategy is to buy the higher TLDs to secure your own domain, if you are successful. Using any other extensions, you are in uncharted waters.

cheers crabfoot , the names i have been looking at would be very exspensive , for the .com , .co.uk and .nets , ppl seem to love to just park high quality names for some reason ! rather than develope them , which is a bit of a shame really but could be good news for me , i'll see how it goes , cheers for the advice .
