good luck with that - i tried that on week 2 of the org.uk auctions as a strategy to secure some names... failed miserably :(

Haha guess not then, I suppose the more active auctions will receive more attention from the larger groups.

I can't help thinking that most of the 1L & 2L names will become the Pokeman cards of the domain sector, the vast majority of which will simply carousel from one domainer to another for donkeys years to come.

I did think that originally Anthony but then I realised - Even if they do, why is it a big deal? The LLLs go round and round but gradually do get bought by companies. Reseller markets are fine by me. Eventually some of the domains will sell, either to a developer who wants a short easy brand or to a company that trades on those initials - or is going to.

For me it would be tying up my money when I could go and get an excellent generic for 3-4k.

My guess is they will hit the reseller market roughly the same as what people paid for them for a few months then drop quite a bit or don't sell at all as sellers refuse to sell them at discounted price.

If people are holding out for the jackpot end user then fair play to them if they have the cash to do it.

Just logged on to the auction to find of_co_uk at £3,700 already.

That's me out then...

@foz No problems here.

Credit where it's due, this'll be a big cheque for Noms charity.

Can you upgrade a gong within 2 years?

What sort of price would you lot pay for your sons initials?

Would it be a mistake buying for 17 years time lol?

What happens to these valuations when Nominet decide to release .UK domains, thought of that? Why wouldnt it happen that they release for sale top level cc

That would be opposed by every .co.uk nameholder, who collectively control £billions in advertising every year. Unless, of course, Nominet gave the existing .co.uk nameholders first dibs at the equivalent .uk...
