I've just discovered that my son has been running a web site for years and making a good steady income from it.

After trying PPC, Adsense and affiliate links, he now deals directly with the companies he features and reckons that's the way to make proper money. It does require serious amounts of work and a constant flow of good content, but for twenty minutes a day work he's not complaining.

This does explain the boxes of stuff turning up at the house, from around the world:

That's what the top affiliates do, work their way up into a position with a site then command more money from the merchants direct. Taking into account the enormous amount of retailers and merchants not with a network, then the ability of selling a service to include them on a monthly or year basis is there for the taking should the pitch and results be right.
