Caught this one recently, just thought it was a nice short name. I did a google search for "lims" and it is an acornym for "Laboratory Information Management Systems". This appears to be pretty big business worldwide as well as in the UK with quite a few companies selling such systems.

I wouldn't imagine I have any problems from a TM point of view.

Any ideas on value or how to go about marketing it would be much appreciated

Hi lesurf

Nice one. I reckon this is a nice little domain, worth a few grand to the right buyer I reckon. Maybe even over £10,000.

Again, this is going to come down to your marketing research/effort. If I were you, I would take a further look into lims software. See how much the software costs and you'll get an idea of how much your domain name might be worth. If you can't find any info you could pretend you were a customer and ask some companies for a quote. Also, see if you can find any company reports on companies involved in the lims market, and see what kind of profits they are making. Even better would be if they breakdown the profits of their lims division.

It looks like lims is a generic term, so that is good news.

I reckon there could well be a software company out there prepared to pay decent money for the domain. There are some big names in lims, like Perkin Elmer and IBM, so things are looking good! Remember, a few grand, even £10,000+ is small beer to these companies.

Anyway, hope that is of some assistance. Let us know the price you achieve here or PM me.

All the best with the sale

Regarding marketing, I would probably just stick it on Sedo. Then as long as you are satisfied it is a generic term and nobody has a claim to the domain, I would send out letters to the various companies in the field and see what offers you get. If you don't want to pay the sedo commission, then create your own page, but I guess sedo would make life easier.

All the best
