Links Directory script

Looks the same, but it's not and it cloaks the domain link therefore spoiling any page rank effect ( i think)

I used a paid version of that Ratboy for a Volkswagen Directory I was running.

Its the best one I have found. So much better once its skinned and has features added!

I've got a few sites that would be suitable for doing this sort of thing, however I don't really get the point (could just be lack of sleep, too much alcohol or a combination of both).

How do you make money, just from adsense? or do you plan on charging for links?

In a nutshell why would I want to set up a directory of links?

Make money from ads.

Also when your directory is established you can charge for links.

My thoughts exactly... build it up for free inclueds, gets indexed nice rating.
Then hopefully you'll have to fight them off.

But you do have to make directories with some kind of twist to it.

Yeah just adsense, but with content on the page it does sort of come up with relevant adverts.

I used to own a paper based business directory business, so it kind of makes sense to go down this route for me.

yep defo the right route to go down.........Adsense is great.!

It comes up with more or less the same as to what you search for on mine. Need to develop a lot more. Find and Seek

You are not really providing any unique content though (link descriptions must be same on loads of link sites), so google isn't going to rank you well so where does the traffic come from?

Without traffic adsense is useless, or are you aiming adsense at people signing up for links?

Yes I agree and it's very true duplicate content isn't good.
And when my spider indexes sites it will be the same as all the others including Google. But I do have an option to add a unique description and be able to put websites in catogories that other index directories might not have.

Titles and paths will be different on different sites so won't be totally pushed to the side by Google.

Other content on the site will help too besides listing company websites. Like reviews, comments, offers, shop of the week etc. Their can be lots of scope to ensure Google doesn't frown upon the directory listing website.
