Linux home media system

Anyone have any views on linux home media distro's
Im about to boot element OS
Going on visuals it looks nice and clean.
A few years ago i tried MythTv but couldnt get on with it.
I have virgin cable so not to bothered about the tv side of things, i just need browser, photos, music & samba NAS setup

element OS doesn't seem to be any different to a normal linux distro, the visuals that look good to be are the "clicker" screenshots, and that only works in the US from what I've seen.
