SEO has nothing to do with search popularity, it has more to do with search results.

SEO means 'search engine optimisation', optimising you code to be successfully read by Google's algorithm's.

Its not, it's a list of top websites based on search data

Google, Amazon, cnet e.t.c would still come top of that list even if it had poor SEO, because if someone searches for google Amazon or cnet are going to get google, Amazon or cnet.

A big part of SEO is about being first in search results for a keyword or set of keywords, Facebook is a social networking site, but if you type social netwoking into google it is not even on the first page.

That list is apparently list of sites based on the amount of searches, not on how SEO friendly they are.

Agree with you. That list is the most popular websites which means that most people know their site names without using search engines to find them...

hmmm the most visited site still may got something to do with SEO I think. First they have traffic, second they have high page rank usually. So in certain extent they still have the value if used correctly of course.
