Listening Process Update

As we reported in April, Nominet has appointed independent research company Savanta to carry out a major piece of research on members’ and stakeholders’ perspectives on Nominet. This important programme is key part of an overall reform plan developed in response to an EGM resolution in March, which was supported by a majority of members.

The Listening Process is now well underway and, having completed an online poll and focus groups, is currently in the Online Consultation stage.

The Online Consultation gives every member, as well as external stakeholders and staff, the opportunity to have their say on the company, its purpose and the changes we can make to move forward. In depth interviews will follow to complete the research phase. Savanta’s findings will be presented to the Board and published by Nominet.

But now is the time of the Online Consultation, an invitation for you to share your perspective. We hope everyone will take the time to share their thoughts (it takes about 20 minutes to take the survey) before it closes on the 9th July.

Savanta feedback session at 3pm today on the online consultation survey. I think links are personalised so you would need to email Leanne I think for her to send you a link.

A huge 1% of the membership participated in the 'focus groups' before the consultation survey.

I've asked for feedback on: transparency, support for the new Council (if any), member views on Governance change, and what other stakeholders are involved in this 'listening process'. I've also asked for stats on how many people actually responded to this consultation.

The next stage is some phone interviews, and then Savanta says they will publish an overall report. Whether Nominet (who pay for the report) get to help draft the report, I don't know.
