I got a N95 from my boss a few months ago and been a gadget freak needed to test every plug in, widset, extra etc. for it.

So here's my top 5 bits of software for it.

5: Widesets - this enables you to easily add lots web services or extra plug ins like Ceefax (YES real ceefax on your N95). BBC News and sport headlines RSS feed. Weather, TECHNO News, Games, and so on.

4: Mobile G Maps. this uses the N95's built in SatNav. Turn the software on, enable an option that sends an email to pre-set emails to say "I'm on the move you can track me". The email receiver can then goto a web page and in real time (they see an arrow YOU on Google's maps flying down the M62 showing speed direction etc. How Coooooooooool

3: Fring basically this is Skype, MSN etc but also VoIP capabilities connection dependant. So all them very nice to have.

2: Live Tv Not sure where i got it or what to search for inGoogle to get it again. But it has 5 live channels for free streaming down. Two been Sky News and CNN other 3 fashion and stuff. But Sky news Live on Your mobile for free . Top Find.

1: THE BIG ONE ComVu.com (pocket caster) This lets you turn your phone into a LIVE (15 secs delay) Broadcasting camera to the internet anywhere with GPRS or 3G signal. You have a lot of options for sizes, to store it on there server, who to email to say your streaming etc. VERY very cool.......... Oh and the GPS shows you on the map to the right where in the world it's streaming from ;) oh sound too ;)

Here's my link ill leave it on for an hour to show you. Its pointing at an angle to my monitor, moving about and stuff.

The videos were saved to a server so you can view them still at the below link.

Thanks for that... I've got an E90 and haven't really played with it properly other than get my email going on it.

I've loaded Fring on it but never used it! I'm going to try mobile Google maps though as I'm not convinced that TomTom works properly on the E90.

I may yet ditch the E90 for something smaller as I've just bought an Asus Eee which is lovely :)

I have an E90 - I recommend TruPhone rather than Fring. I can call Singapore landlines/mobiles, Malaysia landlines and USA all for FREE. Perfect over my 512KB WLAN connection.

I am trying to get a N95 from orange, they have the 'old' version and I want the 8gig version :)

Might just get the old version inside 24hrs after reading that ;)

Was thinking of buying a N95 , but abstained due to crashes people were experiencing.

G,

Have you not thought about using tomtom on your n95 (cameras etc)

Yes N95's do crash. My screen at the mo is hit and miss too. Wont light up when you open it. (does in the end)

But it's so feature rich and geeky that I can't swap it ;)
Another feature thats cool the 3.5 jack to display you phones screen on your TV.

Rob, you won't be able to use VoIP or any type of internet call on an Orange or Voda branded N95 - also the N95 battery does suck REALLY badly. I gave mine to the wife and got the E90. Mind you, I was able to pay Voda £20 to get the N95 SIM unlock done, but I'm going to have to completely reflash it with the generic N95 software to get VoIP.

Last time I got a p990 from orange, head office sent me a cheque for £400 to buy from expansys as I sent back their 'branded' rubbish :)

I just rang up and they wanted £200 for the N95 , and then said ring back on Dec 9th and get it free, could have had it free if I had ordered it 30 days ago online.

Usual route is to either argue the toss and get unlock/debranded ones, or expansys...

Welcome back to Britain... what a joke.

hope

get the SE P1 rob... n95 is so slow now and old tech... going to be a while in europe for some apps for the P1 but from the betas we have on a couple it is the bomb! ;)

P1i is just p990 software in a nicer hardware :( have tried it :(

p1i doesnt have GPS either. I do a fair bit of travelling about so geo locating images etc is a handy thing :)

N95 lacking the pawboard which I have gotton used to.

bit of a pain , but phone is a phone at the end of the day.

but phone is a phone at the end of the day.

Not these days it isn't. I can barely find the phone on my E90.

Azooza - re using TruPhone instead of Fring, I only really want Fring for Skype IM rather than for VoIP so I think I'm best sticking with that.

@Rob: Indeed so. My E90 came from Expansys. Networks are terrible in the UK -- the classic epitome of 'rip-off Britain'.

@bb99: Shape Services do a S60v3 client for Skype - 'Skype IM' I think, which is supposed to do voice as well.

Not an argument, a question. ;)
What other phones can do GPS and all the other stuff mentioned above?

HTC TyTn 2 / T-Mobile Vario 3

Not seen the video streaming etc, but there are masses of applications compatible with it (Win Mobile 6) on the net so good chance it is out there somewhere!

Ahh I have the HERM300 T mobile while my N95 is playing up from me boss.
Same family ;) Nice phone not really played with i that much yet.

I also have an HTC P3600 Trinity and that has a great GPS which works with TomTom. So does the HTC Artemis P3300.
