Well I have been living abroad now for a while so I thought I would post my thoughts...

well I can't say its been an easy transition from the UK to Malta, different culture and different expectations really, I have lived here in St Paul's Bay for a few months now and its been hard to settle, we have been through the whole "shall we stay or shall we go" that I think most expats go through.

We have been tested in the local state school, the school was made for 250 students and it currently holds just short of 850 students..my children sit in classes all day doodling because it is taught in maltese  and we are in the process of trying to get them all in private schools.

I do love the Maltese for there work ethic, they would happily work from dusk till dawn six days a week without moaning about there low pay, there main hobbies are sticking two fingers up to the EU..they have Maltese Residential rates on most things like electricity, water, bus travel and food, it uses the double tap taxation rules on most things which is also against EU laws

anybody else like to share there experience of living abroad ?

I visited Malta a few years back, staying at St Julians bay and I swore I would never go back. The whole pace of life there was not for me and to be honest, I was bored to tears. That said, I never really left the small hamlet, or ineed the hotel (never had reason to.)

With the cost of living in Spain and the massive overstock of property, would it not suit to purchase a property there and make the short trip over when your mood suits?
