They wouldn't have been sure that they could have got the com though, unless budget was no problem, in which case the 7300 euros may be small change for the .co.uk. in the big scheme of things.
They would have been better off keeping the sale private (changing settings with sedo so sale not revealed) thus keeping it off dnjournal etc. & away from prying eyes.
