I vaguely remember something about one of the members on Acorn offering some decent PR services, but can't think who that was...

Anyway, we're after some PR for a UK focussed black friday deals site we're doing. We have a few grand available (possibly more) as a budget to pump into a giveaway/contest, research/survey, marketing stunt etc.. basically something to raise the profile of the site. We would, of course, need to move quickly as it's only a few weeks away.

BTW, we're looking for real PR ideas here, we are not looking for someone to just write a generic press release or infographic and submit it to PR websites. Ideally someone with good journalist contacts, decent ideas and a good track record.

Site is: blackfridaydeals.co.uk

Anyone here know anyone that fits the bill?

How much would you expect PR would cost? I realise sometimes you hit lucky with PR

I used 10 yetis a couple of times and I *think* it was around £3000 plus VAT.

As it happened the campaigns we ran went extremely well and the fee was well worth it. 10 yetis were really good to work with.

If you have a good bit of news to tell or a good stunt then PR is worth the investment.

Agree, the only problem with PR is it's not guaranteed, if your 'story' or PR campaign doesn't take off it can be £3k (for example) for pretty much nothing, maybe one mention on one site.

I nearly went with a PR agency for some work then decided last minute to try it myself, spent half a day creating, seeding something, I got coverage from the likes of HuffPost, Metro, DailyMail, MSN, Yahoo, GQ, MensHealth, LadBible, Mirror, Business Insider etc.

Another time I did something similar, spent half a day on something and it only got 2 mentions, one in huffpost so not too bad but no where near as good as the first bit.

But yeah i've heard all good things about 10Yetis

Not sure, best to email and ask, last time i spoke to them prices may have changed!

Some do guarantees. Not sure whether that means they have an insider that can definitely get coverage or they don't charge if you don't get any attention.

Pricewise £3k/£4k seemed to be the number we kept coming across.
