Why would any uk based person with an ounce of sense send an email offering to sell the domain name

xxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-uk.org

Yes you are reading it properly
3 words and 2 hyphens on a dot org

And it's a commercial term registered in 2011

His name is on the whois and for me he has completely lost any credibility he may have enjoyed.

My advice is if you have crap domains, cut your losses and let them drop, don't risk your credibility by trying to offload them by email. The internet is a small world.

I get similar emails on a daily basis :(

Is the person who contacted you, a member on here too ?

The name rings a bell, but not sure if he's a member.
I don't mind so much when the email is from Asia, you can put it down to desperation or ignorance.

Why get so irritated - just ignore them. Out of interest how much was he charging? Why not share the domain here so we can all judge his / her credibility or otherwise?

I don't know which is worse:
that mail
or the spam from people trying to sell you domains that are unregistered (until you commit to buy)

It does sound abit hard to believe someone going to the effort of trying to sell junk like this especially after mobiles.org.uk only sold for £90, there are plenty of semi decent co.uk domains dropping ftr daily that could have end users with some leg work. I find it barely worth my time trying to contact end users for my best co.uk catches let alone a 3 word double hyphen domain.

From what i picked up over the past 18 months, the effort you should put in is trying to obtain quality, then most of the time buyers will find you. But i do think it is important to stress that you make it as easy as possible for buyers to find you, ideally a decent for sale landing page. But a determined buyer could also contact you via whois, buy from your domain being parked on the likes of Sedo etc.
