Is anyone using a mac keyboard on a PC ?

Having bought due to aesthetic apeal, very nice keyboard action and keys spaced far enough aprt for my fat / clumsy fingers. First impressions were it's great, until I realised I have no print screen, no backslash and no pipe (wonder what else is missing too). The characters are present on the keyboard, but no amount of command / option / shift / function keys f13 etc make it possible.

It's already consumed 2 hours of my life looking for solutions on the web, none of which work.

Any help would be much appreciated before I take a lump hammer to it.

to print scrn press command , shift and 3 it will save as jpeg on desktop

I use a PC keyboard on a mac! I didn't like the mac keyboard (the small aluminium one)

I thought it was shite (compared to their older ones) until I started using it regularly. Now you can't see my fingers as they flash across the keyboard :p

I think the small layout is actually quite good, less distance to move, nice large flat keys. Buy hey, whatever floats your boat

You can use Sharpkeys (RandyRants: SharpKeys 3.0) which does some juju with the registry so you can then bind your extra keys like F13-F19 to actual keys, IIRC though a couple of the keys (notably the eject key aren't bindable).

I have an apple keyboard on my KVM between my mac and xp box, being able to rebind the left windows key to control is a godsend :D

thanks for the advice, but still no good.

Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator 1.4 - Just moves my "#" & "~" to another key, said key has a backslash and pipe on it, but all it does is hash or tilde

Autohotkey - same as above

Applekeys2 - (actually worked to properly emulate the F13 - F15 keys to "print screen, scroll lock, and pause/break" accordingly.)

I dont believe it's possible to get a backslash or a pipe on a mac keyboard on a PC. I refuse to use copy and paste for pipes and backslashes, what were those imbeciles at Apple thinking of. Where's my lump hammer..

Anyone with a workable solution to this, 20 quid coming your way via paypal.

I bought the girlfriend the wireless keyboard and the wireless fold up mouse, the backslash is on the right next to the bottom of the return key, don tknow about print screen or pipe, dont even use them on a normal keyboard.

thanks Charlie, but no luck, the Apple page appears to just tell you the differences between the two keyboards, mine is just like the one in the picture with tilde & backslash just beneath the delete key but all mine gives me is a ~ or #.

Sharp tweak and various others I've tried just move the problem to another key. Weirdly when you select add in sharp tweak and hit the backsalsh key sharp tweak sees it as a backslash but windows does not and will only give me a ~ or #

thanks for the advice, but still no good.

To be fair, the keyboard is awesome with a mac.

One thing to suggest since I'm able to type a | without issue (default binding) is setting your windows keymap to US english?

Tried that already etro, it's a great keyboard to type with I agree, thats why I bought it. But it's just no good on a PC, I cant use a keyboard without backslash or pipe.

what is the advantage? keyboard is a keyboard is it not? or do a lot of you like using the ones with all the flashy buttons? ;)
