That was cutting it fine, was due to drop 1st Sep.

Now states "registered".

Has it changed ownership? Didn't make a record of it....

No, it is renewed. Probably;

a) An asshole sent an email to buy it for a fuck and triggered the owner to renew it.
b) An asshole called the owner to buy it for a fuck and triggered the owner to renew it.
c) A dipshit from mummynet called the owner to tell to renew it.
d) The owner is a sadomazo who likes to create thrill in dropcathers so that he waited till the last a few days to renew it.
e None of above.

Indeed - there are many assholes and dipshits in the domain community :cool:

I suspect a) through to c).

Can't blame people to circumvent drops on valuable names by making direct contact, although this surely would have happened months ago?

or

f) a kind hearted soul here on AD likes to remind owners that their very expensive domains are about to drop, and hopes to maybe get a little financial reward as a thank you. ;)

The vast majority of drops passing from 'Renewal Required' to 'Suspended' actually go on to drop anyway. There's no God given right for members to expect to get them all. Contacting a current registrant is just as legitimate as any other method used, and is the only realistic option for non-Nominet members to get a name without having to place a 3rd party backorder.

Domain names should be able to be (re-)registered by anyone who wishes, but owing to the 'membership-based' structure that ties Nominet hands behind it's back, the only means available to it to influence the flow of registrations that may head to the drop is the current ad campaign and email reminders.

So just how much would that have gone for on the open market!?
