Is it possible that some of the hard to believe domain sale prices involve money laundering?

Ivan Massow thought that the success of the contemporary art market had something to do with money laundering activities.

I think it's certainly possible, although you'd have thought that those involved would remember to tick the "no publicity" box on Sedo or just do the sale privately and keep it away from Sedo etc.

Definately. Indeed it has always been in my mind as to how open to abuse the .com, .net etc domain market is for all manner of things such as getting money from one place to another, money laundering ,tax evasion etc etc. For example, what value do you put on say sex.co.uk and who assigns that price. The opportunities are endless. Maybe start advertising the domains for sale in Russia, and hope !! (i.e. hope you dont get shot. Mind you I had someone threaten me with Paramilitaries once ,never came to anything mind hence im writing now). It is my belief that the reason Nominet do not go the easy transfer route of .com is for the very reasons detailed above ,and I would venture to say that it may well be in conjunction with talks they have had with official bodies and hence all the NON reasons for not going electronic.
