Monitor recommendations

Anyone got any? What would a good screen size and native resolution be now? 24" and 1920 x 1080?

Mine are 22" and 1920 x 1080.

Avoid Acer if you are shopping in the lower end.... I've got a pair of Acer monitors (dual monitor set up) and the viewing angles are a bit weird.

Other than the viewing angle thing... they are fine, but I'd recommend scouring reviews of whichever monitors you look at... looking for people mentioning strange 'viewing angles' as it really is annoying.

Unfortunately had to get some at very short notice after my glass desk spontaneously exploded in the middle of the night and left holes in my old ones, hence why I got cheapos.

We each run dual 1920 x 1080 22" Dell P2217H monitors. They're good monitors but quite small at the res and I'd be tempted to go bigger next time.

Just normal stuff working online all day. Not graphic design or gaming. Perhaps even go to 27"?

I'm envious* of my wife's Dell U2410. She's got 2, one in portrait and one in landscape mode. Great Full HD picture, and the portrait one gives her a fantastic amount of real estate for anything that lends itself well to a vertical view, e.g. social media feeds, long web pages etc.

(*ok, I could buy some for myself, but I'm of the "if it doesn't break" school when it comes to that sort of thing, and my monitors are still working...)

I just run two 24" 1920x1080 side by side. I did have three but I dropped one after a drunken night out

I run a U2417H for functionality, it is a 24" on 1920x1080 and it is outstanding. So much so that I have a spare one just in case. I'm sure any superseded version from Dell will be just as impressive.

I also have a Predator XB271HU for gaming, though that is 27" with 2560x1440 resolution; again, outstanding monitor that I use for functionality too and it is brilliant.

For what you need, 1920x1080 on a 24", or 2560x1440 on a 27". Anything smaller or larger doesn't offer an advantage imo.

Worth considering that the dpi on 2560x1440 can make some text very small compared to what you might be use to. For example, I access Outlook 2016 on my Dell because on my Pred, it is just too damn small and Windows scaling remains truly horrific!

If your available desk space means choosing between 1 very large monitor (27"+, 4K resolution) or two smaller ones (22"-24", full HD resolution) I'd definitely vote for the latter. Being able to open stuff in "physically separate" windows makes for a very different experience from tiling them across a larger screen.

Of course if you also game, you may prefer the 4K large screen route...

Some do of course, for ultimate immersion, but for professional gamers, or those looking for optimal advantages, nothing beats high refresh rates of a 2K...imo

Sorry, I left off the smilie from my earlier post. I wasn't seriously suggesting that the average gamer runs a triple monitor, triple graphics card setup!
