Is anyone managing to profitably exploit some of the more popular social networking sites such as MySpace? I recently setup a profile with a few backlinks and I'm getting a drizzle of traffic without any attempt at promoting myself by making "friends" or joining "groups" etc.. if I had ten profiles or so linking back it might be quite interesting.

We are told MySpace is full of kids with no money, but I'm not so sure. Mind I think I'm a bit too old for MySpace -unless I lied about my age ;)

I kid you not, if you put a link onto MySpace, it gets an awful lot of visitors, mainly Search Engines (if you link it from say your personal blog) and spotty teenagers with the occasional Serial Killer residing in Suffolk (Watch the news more if you are confused).

What I'm saying is is that I don't see any harm in putting a link or two here or there on your blog to say a website or blog you own. I got top result on MSN/Live for a poem which was linked to my blog from MySpace ;)

They're is always alot of promotion (spam) on popular bands pages with direct links so I guess it will increase traffic alot
