2004 - 2006 = 2 years?
aint it that simple?

I would say your first port of call would be the registrar. Contact them with details of the domain, when you bought it and the receipt to show it was registered for 2 years and should still be in your account.

Hope you used a decent registrar otherwise these sorts of disputes can go on a long time.

Did you keep the contact details up to date even though you were not using it ?

I hope you can get it back.

Wishing you all the best.

Richard

Worst case scenario - someone could have hijacked it - especially if it was 6 months after registration ?!
Perhaps if you'd reveal the names in question we could assist you more?
