Hi Guys

What do you think of NetPrizes.co.uk?

My view is that it's a highly brandable and marketable name for running a competitions site, do you agree?

I regged it because I thought it was a good name, but competitions sites aren't my speciality.

Rgds

Who thinks I could make a big sale on this, or shall I just stick it on DomainLore?

Thanks

OK, thanks for the opinion. I know that there have been some decent sales in the competitions sector, so that's where I hoped there might be some value:

Competitions.co.uk £ 5,500 AcornDomains September 2008

MyCompetitions.co.uk £ 650 Sedo Auction July 2007

I like my name because the net bit conveys internet at the same time as netting a prize, that's where I feel the brandability comes in. I guess I'm just hoping that someone shares this train of thought.

I don't see its appeal either. I'm with Ty I can't see this attracting a £50 opener

Sorry mate but I'm with the rest, I don't see the value ?

Just stick it on Sedo and leave it for 2 years with renewal turned off and see if it sells in that time ?

Good luck

I've dealt with competition and freebie sites in the past (built and sold). Most of which comes down to brand or more commonly search engine position for keywords.

I'm afraid I have to agree with the others and can't see immediate value. The fact that something like mycompetitions.co.uk only went for £650 (which is a nice brandable name) and the generic competitions.co.uk for just £5k gives you some idea.

The two words are not that searched upon in comparison to 'competitions' and the long tail of search volumes it creates. The only name similar I remember from years gone by is netfreestuff.co.uk - was easy to remember and think this helped build up the site and the brand.

It's brandable and could fetch a buyer but can't see many to bid up the price on this one I'm afraid. Best thing to do is stick on Sedo as can't see DL members fighting over.

Another option could be to contact freebie site / free stuff site owners that could capatilise their traffic on opening a competitions site - and promote your name as an option. You may get £100-£200 (particuarly if the freebie / free stuff site has the word 'net' in it!)

Thanks for all the feedback chaps.

It's the brandability element that makes me think I could achieve a reasonable sale on this one. I am going to do a little marketing of the domain and see where I get.
