My DomainCapture.co.uk dropcatching service has just gone live today.

It’s running an auction model, but I was just wondering whether people prefer this or whether they think that a flat fee, first come first served model would have been better?

By the way, as I write there’s NOTHING been backordered so loads of premiums, LLLs, dictionary names without any bids on them.

People have started to catch now using the auction model. Personally I think the 'flat fee' has had its day.

Another vote for auction model , least that way others can still book the same domain, they just have to bid higher.

Another vote for the auction model, at least you have a chance of getting a booking if you bid enough, whereas with the flat fee model, if it's booked everywhere, too bad.

Caught my first domain for a client yesterday on CatchDomains.co.uk with bowlers.co.uk :)

@RobM maybe an idea to reimplement your "SlotsAvailable" domain so people and book on multiple sites or at least scan them all and bid where is still within their budget or something.

I don't know, but I can see you having a dozen people and it being a hassle. Each sign would be unique but using same email, perhaps slots could use the unified email to allow a scan them all ?

Just an idea :)

They are all using auction models so there are no slots. Also accounts have to be created at each one because registrant details are then placed on record for that tag - this means domains caught have the registrant details not the tagholder.

Rob has now added 7 days of drop lists to our public catching services, mine are here for logged in clients, just click on any date and the drop list for that day appears in the box:

CatchDomains.co.uk/droplists.html

How's everyone else doing with their catching systems? I'm up to 5 catches for clients at the moment.

This is also suitable for people who want to catch for themselves but run catching for others on their quiet times. I had a couple of people asking about that so it's not clear in my description. I suck at explaining things :p
