Yes. Makes those buyers of .co.uk domains over the past 12 months look shrewd, very good buying was had.

That's also what it states in their press release. IMO proper way to go. (if doing it at all)

Still held to ransom 5yrs time onwards and Nominet (possibly) double their income.

My very early reaction - I'm not even 5% of the way through reading everything that's been published - is that it's significantly better than V2.

In other words, if you proceed from the premise that ".uk HAS to go ahead" then the final version Nominet have come up with is significantly less broken than V2 was.

I'd call that "good news".

Agreed. If .uk had to happen (and by hook or by crook it was always going to happen), the final version is as good as it gets for me.

I don't think there's a final list. Nominet was given a list by Government, but that's not to say they'll accept the need to block every one of those domains. We'll have to watch this space.

WestCountry.co.uk was registered after the cut-off date, so won't be automatically eligible for .UK.

I think we should all take a minute to think about poor Monkey who unfortunately didn't get the lottery win he was hoping for

But, I've enjoyed watching him stir the shit over the last few months so I hope he sticks around

Obviously not the decision I wanted but I will still win some valuable domains so this solution is better than a "no .UK at all" decision. At a rough guess my domain holdings just increased by £50k+ rather than the £200k+ it could have been... But its all free money

The result is mostly a relief. Because I have mostly been concerned with the interests of my clients (aka the small business bods on the street). But I'm not sure I deserve any thanks. Others have done much more than me.
