Some nice uk sales reported on DNJournal.com this week

Amongst quite a few .co.uk domains the following seemed good prices (all prices reported in dollars). All are .co.uk domains:

boilerscrappage $13040
paperless $7043
globalcar $3525
pre-order $3244
combiboiler.co.uk $2853

Someone's done well from scrappage!!

The scrappage one was mine....My first and so far only sale..guess I just got lucky!!

Well done - you did well to reg that one - and then to find someone willing to pay that sort of money.

Well done Dean ! Am I right in guessing you handregged that in October also ?

Quick turnaround if that's the case :).

Dean - Did they approach you in relation to the domain, or did you put the feelers out? Did you negotiate at all, or did they offer you that much from the outset?

They approached me directly...although I did put it on Ebay ..they offered me a set sum and because I was so shocked I said yes. As I said it was my first sale after making all the usual mistakes and accumulating about 50 fairly useless domain names. But it seems to have paid off in this case.....

Yes it certainly paid off. I guess they just decided that they wanted that specific domain name, and put in a big offer.

Great story Dean - a bit like the story I read a week ago about that guy who purchased a metal detector, got it out for the first time and bleep, bleep -and found a fortune in ancient gold jewellery. Mind you, a lot of guys on here have found the odd gem sitting there unregged. I remember the amazing story about an acorn member a couple of years ago who couldn't sleep and staggered out of bed at some unearthly hour to find a prize single word generic lying there unregged.

Basically I read about a story of a local plumbing firm that started an online campaign to put pressure on the government to bring out a Boiler Scrappage shceme. So i checked if the the name was available and it was - so I regged it....so not completely down to luck but the amount did shock me especially as it only has a years life in it.

No real idea who the buyer was.....a third party working for British gas I presume.

I guess no point mentioning my on the list, since your one overclouds my by miles

Ah it now becomes clear :) Well done dean, great result for you!

Thanks for that info domainseller.

Albeit indirectly, British Gas have purchased a keyword rich domain name for a specific campaign!! This is great news for the domain industry !!

Do you have a link for that? Would be an interesting read. The domain one that is, not the metal detector one.

P.S. Congrats Dean - great sale and ROI :)
