There doesn't appear to be a clear reasoning between connecting those two words. Also, with nokia (tm) in the domain name, there are potential legal issues.

Probably best not to risk this, especailly as it is entirely speculative also.

I think I've had it near 8 or 10 years without hearing anything, there is was a phone branded by the same name a couple of years back which created a lot of traffic - so much for for any commercial due diligence.

The problem is often that these issues don't rear their head until/unless a site is successful. There are lots of celebrity names aren't here too, but they are very cheap, primarily because people would fear action being taken against them. There are of curse examples of 'fan' sites at official celebrity names, and often I doubt they ever receive any problems, but it's always a possibility so it's a concern that's worth bringing up.

Thanks for the advice newguy! I never developed the domain so you could be right.... Somebody may want to take a punt tho - seems to be a lot of domains with the word nokia in?

I am seeing in my traffic logs on some of my sites a lot more cases of brand / domain watching companies visiting on a daily basis. They are searching for online abuse using unauthorised tm, brands & also counterfeit goods.

You may have had those domains for a long time however years ago there were few (if any) companies who specialised in brand/tm abuse. There's quite a number of them operating nowadays so therefor a greater chance of being detected.

One of the events I deal with in my 'day job' is a full day conference dedicated to this very subject. It attracts a very large number of global businesses who all are looking for ways/ technology/services which can help reduce dilution of a brand, tm abuse, etc etc.

At the end of the day your domain includes a tm name that you don't have the authority to use, you may get away with it, you may not. Why take the risk?

Look at it another way, if you owned a tm or well known brand how would you like it if others abuse it and (potentially) erode your bottom line ?

There is a town in Finland called, Nokia, its name originated from the river which flowed through it. The river itself, Nokianvirta, was named after the archaic Finnish word originally meaning a small, dark-furred animal that lived on the banks of the Nokianvirta river. (Wiki)

I'm not suggesting the domains could create a viable return if commercially focused on the subject matter 'small, dark-furred animal fun', if a giant corporation worth 39billion decide to name their company after a Scandinavian vole/town without the foresight in 1865 to consider brand dilution in the 21st century....

Besides I thought Stelios was the only mortal legally able to own a word (easy)...

But I get your point, selling tacky ringtones targeted at people using nokia's could be considered 'iffy', especially against a legal team firing case hardened knife bullets across the court room, been there got the scars.

So Im getting the idea they may be worthless...?
