Sympathy to the owner of Royal.co.uk this morning on this announcement who will lose his .uk entitlement and presumably a fair chunk of money as a result.

Also delegated this morning princeofwales.uk, supremecourt.uk and jcpc.uk.

Although we all escaped with our lives with direct UK in the end, there are still good number of casualties out there from it.

The full government 'request' list is at: http://nominet.nomensa.com/sites/default/files/Copy of Government response - annex.xls
If you want to see if you are effected.

Good news for some is a lot of the current .gov.uk are not included, particularly the Geo domain name ones e.g. brent.gov.uk, brentwood.gov.uk etc.

That poor Royal.co.uk owner... guess he'll just have to make do with the rest of his domains now then.. ;)

.gov.uk domains have never been part of the process.
They and any others could have been though I presume if the government had requested they were reserved for them. All the names requested by the government do match existing .gov.uk registrations.

If the rumours are true, they sold money.co.uk for over $2 million so I don't think they're struggling and they still own royal.co.uk which will still be the premium commercial domain.
Looks like my sympathy is misplaced then! ;-)

Good on them. They've still lost a bit of 'pocket money' though. ;-)

Whether .co.uk stays the premium commercial domain remains to be seen I think.
