WordPress as a frontend is fine, because it really is powerful enough. Plenty of the worlds websites we use every day are powered by WordPress. But I just think it's odd that they outsource the hosting for it. To Kinsta of all places.

Why didn't they use Krystal at least? Lol.

Its the principle of using WordPress. It's just not professional for this type of organisation. It sends a message of a lazy, amateur development team.

For many things WordPress is fine.
