It's a bit stark, quite a few indexed pages on bigG go to 404's, and I'm already sick of seeing that potbellied techie! Not a good look...

Have changed their website. What do you think of it ?

They have'nt 301'd any of the old pages so if you try and find a specific page via google you get a page not found. The whois form is so tiny you can hardly find it and they still don't remove unwanted characters from it - paste in a domain name with a space on the end:

Error for "nominet.org.uk+".

This domain cannot be registered because it contravenes the Nominet UK
naming rules. The reason is:
Domain names may only comprise the characters A-Z, a-z, 0-9, hyphen (-)
and dot (.)..

Total basics!!

So yeah, highly impressed with it :)

The new site looks more modern. I find it annoying that
a) the whois tool is 'below the fold' on most of my devices :(
b) They haven't 301'd most of the old pages :(

  • Site loads slowly
  • Thin on content (it may not be but thats the impression I get).
  • The fonts are to big.
  • Navigation is poor (heading to sitemap all the time)
  • Old url strings are dead.

Plus the site doesn't work properly on a mobile phone (well, it didn't a few days ago anyway when I tried to check the owner of a site).

Can't use the whois on my iphone anymore - it opens the results in a new window that is nearly completely off of the screen lol

I also find it annoying that the whois has been tucked away below the fold. The whois is the most important function on a registry website and ought to be highly prominent at the top of the page.

same here, very inconvenient.
