But if you still want Microsoft... Well, AVG does a good job for free.
Nod32 from eset is very lightweight, sometimes I have to check for a pulse. Comes highly recommended from web tech chappies.
I use NOD32 and it is very lightweight, and quick to update. However, it did miss one bit of spyware, so I now use it in conjuction with malwarebytes.

Nod32 is the one we're currently recommending to clients, we were using kaspersky but that really slows down pretty much any computer.
For people that don't want to pay we recommend Microsoft Security Essentials, same engine as Forefront client security but free (for home use).
That rules out Nod32 for me then.
I always do the opposite of what IT Support tell me, most IT support guys don't have a clue what they are doing![]()
