I wish to offer email addresses through my website, ie

Register a Domain, Find Hosting and Create a Website at Domain.com - my website

[email protected] - an available email to have.

I will be offering either a free forwarding service or a paid for full pop access account for those wishing to send and receive from @domain.com

Is anyone doing this already? Are there any pitfalls? My main concern is security for my admin account and any possibility of hacking going on.

The service will offer pop3 accounts through a Cpanel hosting solution.

If anyone can offer any words of wisdom on what to look our for or be wary of, im all ears.

Thanks

Don't do it!

The server will throw some evil error as soon as you leave for a holiday and hundreds of users will be screaming that their email was vital to them.

(Like a bug in Dovecote corrupting the user db)

I know I will have to cover myself with some blanket T+Cs which should stop any moaning but apart from that I cant see how it can fail?

You might find it easier to simply outsource it.

Doing it yourself can lead to all sorts of headaches.

Spammers signing up and then spamming like mad before you can shutdown their accounts can be lots of "fun", as your server can get blacklisted
