Good morning everyone,

Just thought I'd say I'm sitting here in Greece watching the olympic torch going through the Scottish countryside. They're running through some villages, but other times there's a really nice 'bus view' of the convoy going along the roads, its a nice day and the treelined green landscape looks lovely. My wifes mum lives in Forfar, it'll be there shortly. I wonder if she'll pop out and light her cigarette from the Greek flame. Nice views.

Personally I think this 'Torch' stuff has been slightly overdone and we've got ages of it left. i understand the appeal on a local level but I wish they would drop-it from the news schedules. Seen one torch - seen them all imho

No offence - I'm over the moon to see the Olympics in the UK, And if the torch past through my town I would certainly go out to see it. But, we have had it on the Main news almost every day and honestly it is too much. you obviously wouldn't get the saturation viewing that we are in the UK.

Be interesting to hear what other UK based bods think about the coverage ?

You're right, we don't get the same coverage on Greek TV, but I watch BBC news on TV every day on TV, its always on that, but I don't mind.

Its the Olympic Games, the flame was lit in Greece from the sun and is being paraded around the UK with a beacon lit in every significant town, until it lights the final beacon that starts the games, probably the biggest single event in the world these days.

For once (in my opinion), I think the UK has done a great job, building the huge Olympic site (on time and on budget), along with a massively complex infrastructure. It must be the first time ever a building project in Britain was finished on time.

I think its really good for the UK, and in these difficult times I think Britain should make a huge mountain out of hosting the Olympics, it'll be good for the country and pick everyone up.

With all the doom and gloom in the world, it's a little bit of positive news. Every place is getting it's 15 minutes of flame.

It would be a little unfair to do it for a couple of days, then give up on it.

It's something that will probably only happen once in our lifetimes, which is why I was up early the other day to go and see the Olympic Flame with my kids.

Everything that's on the news is overly repetitive though. Presumably it's to save them money.

I haven't been watching the news recently because according to them there have only been three things happening in the entire universe in the past few weeks: Leveson, Syria and the torch. No doubt the monotony will be broken up more with Euro 2012 news, which I have to say will be a welcome break ;)

Having said that, the torch doesn't bother me (yet - I've been instructed to take photos and blog about it when it comes through here, council have sent letters out that it's going to either be 5pm or 7am, so I'm crossing my fingers it's not 7)!

Aegean - sounds like you're missing the UK and getting all patriotic :D

Perhaps a little, but I'm just trying to be positive. Plus I am aware of the technical achievement of broascasting a live feed with a good quality picture on the web, so I can sit here on Rhodes watching the torch go through my home country. I think its great.

Lovely to see the Theme for the Opening ceremony unveiled today - It looks great , A British Garden/Countryside setting on a massive scale - The rain will no-doubt put in an appearance for authenticity
