Well, the only domain that I saw in the appraisal thread that is close to this name is mobile-phones.org.uk

The feedback on that name was good. I am just guessing that due to this being a .co.uk it would be a lot better. I understand that mobile phone and OS are two different markets but just looking for some clue about the reseller and a enduser price on this name.

You need to look at the google keywords tool on exact setting.

That gives mobile phones 4,090,000 searches per month in the uk
operating system gives 9900

Plus, I can imagine people saying "I'm going to buy a mobile phone" but not "I'm going to buy an operating system"

I don't think you're in the same league as mobile-phones.org.uk unfortunately.

LOL, people don't say "I'm going to buy an operating system" they say my computer is broken. The computer tech tells them about the operating system. With the new windows 7 out people are thinking about "operating systems" I think there is a huge market.

Anyway thanks, I didn't think I would get any feedback. Anymore thoughts?

I would say the mobile phone market is a much, much bigger market online, and therefore mobile-phones.org.uk is a better domain than operating-system.co.uk. As a computer comes bundled with an OS, I would think the number of people trying to buy an OS from the internet would be much lower than those buying mobile phones.

That said, a developed OS site would get traffic, and enthusiasts will buy copies of Windows, so sales potential is there, for OS software, and I expect for computers too.

Good luck with the domain.
