Pages with duplicate meta descriptions question - both index.php and / are indexed

For example both of the following are showing in google

example.com

and

example.com/index.php

Any idea how to sort this issue? thanks

Change the internal links if you can if any are pointing to the /index.html etc

Alternative is to canonical index to /
