That's DNForum's in-house parking program. Have heard mixed reports about it. I think they're mainly US-centric.
A new parking program is launched in the US pretty much every week...
No ex-Sedo people there though :)

From a purely objective, not at all biased, point of view, NameDrive is better. ;-)

yep... looks like another googlesyndication... i wonder how many web pages are left on the net without a google ad somewhere?

About 15, I would say.

I can't find anything now without coming across an infernal parked page...

aint that right - its either parked or all the links are affiliate. - something will have to change one day

And there's gonna be a lot of domain refugees.

It's very interesting to see what will happen to all the domains from scallywags such as myself registering domains only to park them. We're perfectly aware that this market will change a lot in the next two years. With the view on the long term, as a company, ND is certainly looking for PPC alternatives. Traffic is always going to go to domains, whatever happens to the PPC market. In two years, parking may be dead, but we're hoping to have other ways for you to make money.
As a user myself, I am fed up of, for example, trying to find out information about UK bank sort codes and being bombarded with sites pretending to give me informaiton but just a load of loans ads instead.
I hope the owners of those pages aren't reading this :)

What am I talking about? We're a parking comapny. Parked pages are great :)

I've got a few domains parked at Parkingsite, I like the headers and layout of the pages, but I don't 100% trust the stats at all, the revenue jumps up and down wildly...like one day it can be $10, the next $0 with the same amount of impressions...this has never been the case with Sedo, there is always some form of regularity.

There are some good options though, like you can get paid out at anytime etc.

Nobody is yet to make the perfect parking site for me, here are some of the good points from various parking companies, which when added together for me would kill the rest of the competiton:

1: Sedos stats, the bar graphs and general layout is easy to understand, keyword optimisation is also amoung the best.

2: parkingsites wide range of headers and genral layout of the pages make the page look like more of a website than a parking page, this encorages the users to click. Parkingsite also offer direct links to stats, so instead of taking a screenshot users can click a special link to see the past 31 days of stats for a domain. Parkingsites payout on demand is also a good feature.

3: Domainhop (Revenue per unique) - Nothing else

4: Fabulous, Overture feeds this giver a higher PPC for certain types of traffic

5: Namedrive, The backend of namedrive is the best around, adding domains into folders and grouping domains is simply a great option for people with large portfolios.

At the end of the day people will go where the revenue is best...i've got domains split between 2 different providers at the moment (Sedo & parkingsite), but if all the above options were put into one program then i'd park all my domains there :)

Hi there, as I touched on our future plans before, I just thought I'd add a quick note here as well.

Revenue is never really stable, and can fluctuate anything up to 30% from one day to the next. As I've mentioned before, we pay, less our small commission, precisely what the domain earns for every click. As the value of a certain click on a parked domain is so reliant on so many factors (visitor's location, location of clicked advert on the page, whether the visitor performs a search etc...), the value of an individual click can change from $0.03 to $5 from day to day.

Just a quick run through the perfect parking program:

Can't argue with that. I like the bar graph. However, ND has per region stats so you can see where all the traffic is coming from. We are also working on integrating stat reports so you can really see what the people on your domains are looking for.

We've got 3 more headers on the way - music, automotive and 'life' (smiley happy people) The stats link and the payout on demand are nice ideas. We pay net 30 as do most of the other players. We'd certainly look into the payout on demand feature if there's enough demand for it but I think once-a-month payments aren't a terrible solution.

Yup. It's a nice bonus if you have low-performance high-traffic expired traffic but from our side of the fence, it just seems to encourage people to send a lot of junk traffic to their names to up the visitor numbers, thereby lowering conversion rates and ad prices.

Watch this space. There are developments not very far away :)

Very true and something we can only hope to aspire to.

I know you hear a lot of "we're planning this and we're going to do that" coming out of NameDrive. I thnk there are tangible signs that we have improved significantly in the last 3-4 weeks and we want that to continue and continue doing so until (as mentioned earlier) we become extinct with all the rest of the parking companies
And then Phase 2 begins.

Have a great evening everyone.

Ed,

Thanks for the response.

A few things you've touched on, firstly I know parking revenue will and can't ever be considered constant, but there is usually a trend, a domain usually has certain averages over a length of time. One of my domains at parkingsite for instance, 60 impressions and $1+, 3200 impressions and $0.01 (Same domain), the stats in all honestly sometimes look made up. (Although I realise this isn't the case)

Namedrive already has a whole lot going for it, it's all very public and helpful which is also another important point which I didn't touch on above. As per PM I will be giving Namedrive another go in the next few weeks.

Can I suggest one thing that I think would be a great addition, not sure if it would be possible or not?

Custom headers, offsite hotlinking to a your own header?, so I could deisgn my own header for parking and link the jpg to it?

I suppose in someways this would require a manual check on each one as it could be open to abuse (Someone making a banner saying "Please click the links below etc") Not sure how viable it would be.

Cheers,

J2

Hi J2.

I won't say 'yes' or 'no'. But I would err on the side of the 'no' :)

Basically, Google and Overture have a limit on how much can be done to a page before it is no longer a 'parking' page and it is a 'developed' page. We will do everthing within our power to take it to the boundaries of what Google allows us to do, but allowing our own customers to put their own content on there may be one step too far in their eyes - added to the possible abuse as you mentioned.

However, I have mentioned it a couple of times before, we will soon be offering more customisable options for domains which perform above-average and are of a generic non-trademark nature. More anon, but we are currently having to spend a bit more time concentrating on weeding out poor traffic and cheating domain owners that are the weeds in every parking program. This done though, we want to press forward with implementation of new and exciting things, as promised.

As reported by J2theIZZO, revenue with parkingsite is all over the shop.

The stats are shocking - no CTR or PPC - you can never work out why you made $50 one day and $5 the next.

The optimization is poor. Domains are only optimized on Thursday nights. So you have to wait up to one week for your sites to be optimized. It wouldn't be too bad if you could suggest keywords online, but since you have to send an email, and it takes them a week to read emails, two weeks will have gone before your domains are optimized.

It seems like an unfinished product - very amateurish

ParkingSite and NameDrive started at the same time but the comparison stops there. ND is miles ahead.
