Wanted: Website Review Pinned.com - Pinned - Pinboards - Bookmarking etc

Thought i would put the name to use and utilise the traffic...

Your World in Pictures & Videos - Share with others anything you like and connect with people and friends who have similar interests.

Pinned.com is a virtual pinboard that lets you organize pictures and videos that you’ve found of the web in just one click. You can then share, connect, follow and browse pinboards created by other people (and vice versa). People tend to use pinboards to plan weddings, family parties, events or special occasions. Whereas others may use them to store home improvement ideas, cooking recipes, holiday locations, favorite cars and so on...

Discover something new today and get inspiration from other people around the world who have uploaded their pinboards, who knows you may even make some new friends along the way who share similar interests! well that’s the idea

WORKING ON:
The pinned Geo Location App is currently in BETA and will be ready to launch on iTunes later this year. You will be able to pin the exact location of everything and anything, be it a picture you've just taken, a video you've just filmed, or a hotspot you want to share with the world. You will also be able to keep a track of your daily movements and view breadcrumbs of where you have been depending on your settings.

Once you've pinned something it's instantly viewable on our google mapping system depending on your privacy settings. You can also categorize your pins and view a timeline of everything you've pinned daily, monthly, yearly etc, It's just brilliant.

If you have any ideas or ways to improve let me know and i'll try and get them implemented in both web and app format, and if you think the name could be used for something totally different I'd also like to hear your thoughts?

What are you doing about copyright infringement?

If you add the ability to add social network profiles such as Google+ and Facebook Pages (as well as Twitter, Flickr, Dribbble, Facebook profiles etc.), you'll have a big advantage over similar services. Number of views a pin has had would also be good.

May be a good time to have a Pinterest clone as their server is showing as down right now. Agreed it needs to have something more than what Pinterest offers otherwise you might struggle to compete.

The Copyright point is also a good one, Pinterest gets around this by putting all the blame on the Pinner which has caused some members to delete their accounts.

Great domain for this though Baz, will be interesting to watch its progress.

I'm totally with you on the logo 100% - That was simply put up for quickness, needs a proper one for sure.

Regarding copyright :
I've added our usual copyright speel to the T&C and will obviously remove anything upon request as per T&C's, however the beauty of pinned is that when storing the images or videos it actually stores the location it came from which means it still belongs to that entity and displays the origin too, and if you click the image or video which has been pinned it returns to the exact page you pinned it from. It's a create little tool for affiliate marketeers who are clever with their ID's Already noticed a few people who have pinned some holiday destinations and linked it directly to their affiliate accounts, i done the same with a couple of my gadgets

It regards to adding social network profiles - I'm on it my little blossom, good call


** Cheers Alan - I have a few really good ideas surrounding the group buying concept and rewarding users who have pinned items, in fact its really good but i'll wait til its done before i start shouting about it, hehehehe...

Will defo be different from pinterest but wanted something up to utilise the traffic and gain traction while i work on the bigger project behind the scenes if that makes sense.

That is bad that pinterest is getting 502 with all that money behind them, wow, just crazy...

I'd also have a page for 'Most Popular/Pinned' in the past 24 hours or week or whatever, and 'Most Popular/Pinned of all time'.

And subcategories - drives me mad that you can't have sub-boards on Pinterest, like Events > Olympics, Photography > Spring 2012 etc.

I'd also have the option for 'group boards' - they display the same on every group member's profile, and any of them can add to it. Could be open groups or closed.

And I'd bring back the open boards option that Pinterest ditched if you don't have that already.

And I don't know if on yours, when you pin it says '1 new pin' in your 'news feed', but that feature is really annoying on Pinterest. I've just pinned something, I know there's one new pin in my feed!!

Not meant to cause offense, but I dont like it, looks exactly like pinterest. You should have come up with something unique. Its like copying facebook exactly and calling it something similar, its just never going to work or become popular.

** MarkB > as i said above it was purely put up in this format as it was the quickest solution to utilize the traffic, it wont stay in this format forever. The site has been up for less than a week and already its gaining traction so this was a good test to see if it was worth chucking more resources at it, which obviously i will now...

** Pete > Great read, those guys have had some serious success with cloning sites and selling them back to the original companies who first created the concept, ebay clone, wow!

I plan to turn pinned.com in to a geo location based pinboard service which will then tie in with the group buying ethos e.g. i will create another button saying " I WANT THIS ", and the more people who want the pinned items throughout the site, the greater the discounts i'll be able to offer... yet i will add a twist whereby i give the user a % of the revenue we agree with the merchants back I have a few nice ideas that will make it totally different to pinterest 100%

Always welcome other ideas too as this will become and app as well...

Didnt realise that, i think if you where to get a good graphic designer and give it a really good different look and feel with good logo too, it could do well.

Great domain! I agree that it needs some nice investment going into a new design to really set it apart from Pinterest. Could really be onto a winner too if you can geo it by user - a good way to differentiate from Pinterest. I think it's all about taking the concept, having a massive brainstorming session and doing everything you can to improve on/make it different from the other pin boards. Defo worth the time and money imo.
