I know it's generic, but longwinded & ugle.
.net is up for £600 & could prob get cheaper
Maybe they want a campaign & guess you would want the .com or .co.uk for that.
However they have a brand name, pulsar, surely they should push that?
I mean, i bet plumbing supplies hardly gets any traffic?

Had a look through their main web page and the word "plumbing supplies" is used lots.

At a guess it will be useful to them for search engine traffic and they should be able to get number one slot on google on those search terms.

I don't know how popular that search term is though - like you mentioned.

I think i've seen companies use multiple domains to resolve to the same web site in the past. Does google black list for this practice?

There is no reason not to do this although Google will index the URL that the site is hosted on and ignore the redirection from other URL's, this is a technique used to drive type in traffic to one site from other related domains.
