Prefix or Suffix Better for SEO?

Hi All

I need to get a product generic for a new site. The .co.uk and .org.uk are gone, so I just wondered whether any one had an opinion on whether, for SEO purposes, it's better to go for:

[prefix]productname.co.uk

or

productname[suffix].co.uk

The name I like has a prefix, but I'm just wondering if there's any SEO evidence to suggest suffixes are better. If anything, I would have thought the suffix type would be better for SEO as you get the keyphrase coming first.

productname[suffix].co.uk is allegedly better, but the difference will be relatively slight, so personally I would go with whichever name you feel has the best ring/trust/authority/memorable etc

'Partial match' domains don't receive a bonus like exact match domains do, so I would be very surprised if it made any difference at all.

Go for the domain which sounds better and is more memorable. Don't need to know the product name, but what prefix and suffix are you considering?

I'm not disagreeing with you, my point is that choosing a prefix over a suffix (or vice versa) will not make any difference.

I am inclined to agree with you that prefix or suffix makes little difference, I just wanted to be sure.

Don't know about SEO benefit but I much prefer prefix eg I own Bristolboats.co.uk which sounds better than boatsBristol.co.uk
