The sad thing is, as it's google, it will be a test designed to extract the most information/money out of us without benefiting mankind. Thank god they didn't invent the calculator - you'd have to rent it, carry it at all times so the tracking could work, and the answer would get more accurate the more you pay. PI would be approximately 4 or 5 for most of us and only the megarich could calculate it to 10 decimal places.

Seriously though - it's great but I think people lose sight of the fact that quantum computers, by their very nature, will only be amazing at *specific* tasks. You still won't be running spreadsheets on them, or playing games etc. I can see them being invaluable in space travel and advanced mathematical calculations, orbits etc and of course there's the immediate destruction of the banking system Remember Lockheed Martin bought one but wouldn't say what it was for......
