Question About Expiring Domains And Pagerank.

Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.

I've been watching a domain that is expiring, a .com

It expired late in August 2012 and is currently in redemption period.

It was showing as PR5 but now in last couple days it is showing as n/a, when I check it's links most of them are still in tact, it is in my niche and has links from stanford and US gov sites, so really high authority links.

I was just wondering three things.

If I backorder it do you think It will keep it's PR? even though the visible PR has been gone seemingly in the last few days.

If I could regain it's PR then if backorder when will be the earliest I could get it?.

Also do you guys know the best place to backorder a .com? I was just going to use godaddy or pool, maybe both.

i dont know about your situation, but my own personal domain home page had a pr3, then I ignored the site, and even took it down to which my pr3 disappeared. Within a few days of me setting a new site up on the domain, the PR re-appeared and is still 3.

I can't speak for .coms, but where .uks are concerned, Google appears to be pretty good at identifying when a domain moves into suspended status, probably due to the site going off line, then it strips the PR away within a month or so of when it's noticed this.

It's an interesting approach to revive a site, I do wonder at what PR level most people think it's worth trying to do this, but I suppose it really has to have been a genuine site in the past to make the effort worthwhile, especially with the recent algorithm changes that have occured.

Not in my experience it doesn't!

If you get some relevant content up there quickly you can often preserve or resurrect PageRank (or at least a good portion of it).

It helps if you can identify deep links into your domain and recreate the urls to which links are pointing (or at least redirect them to relevant content).

Sorry this is MurrayYeah.. my laptop died couple of days ago had to reinstall windows, had my login saved before on chrome, no idea what the password was or email I used :| so made a new account..

The domain is pending delete now, its odd! it's only been a month sinced it expired, the steps of getting to redemption period and then pending delete have come very swiftly, much quicker than I have read online...

If I get the domain I'm going to make up a quick wordpress site, stick some relevant content on there, sign up to google webmaster tools and see if they credit the old links.. hopefully..

That is the plan anyway, I will let you guys know how it goes.
