I've got a domain that has an extensive backlink profile.

I wanted to add the most visited pages as webmaster tools is flagging up 404 crawl errors.

I've got an index.html file installed in the root of the domain so http://www.websitename.co.uk resolves. Webmast tools reports a 404 for http://www.websitename.co.uk/the-is-a-product/

What do I create, a file called this-is-a-product.html? if so where do I put it?

No, it's a folder. You can create http://www.websitename.co.uk/the-is-a-product/ and put an index.html file in that.

Depending on how big the site currently is, the easiest thing to do might be to install WordPress and put Link Juice Keeper on it.

Cheers for the reply. THere are 714 crawl errors listed in Webmaster tools at the moment! Does this sound like a job for LInk Juice Keeper?

'It [automatically] redirects all non-existing URLs which normally return a 404 error to the blog front page using 301 (permanent) redirect. This way everyone who comes to your blog via broken link (both people and robots) will be redirected to the front page.'

I can confirm it works fine with the latest version of WP. You might want to recreate some (most?) of the pages yourself, but as a temporary stop gap or to save you time it's worth considering.
