hi all, have a site thats been live for 6-7 years now and has a lot of links in google etc etc, but I have just redesigned it to use wordpress but want to redirect if someone goes to www.site.co.uk/page.asp to either the new page in WP or just a generic page saying we've moved etc etc

I've had a trawl through Google about it but not 100% sure about it.

any help greatfully appreciated!!!

You could do a redirect in the web.config, syntax is fairly simple, or alternatively redirect to a generic asp page and process the url and do a programmatic redirect.

Thanks Alex - sounds a bit complicated for me but appreciate you replying!!

If you want to manage this within the WordPress admin area, then there is a plugin which I use called 'Redirection' which 301 redirects the links for you.

BANG ON!!!! That is just what i was looking for!!! many thanks for that!!!
