Registering/buying limited companies to match domains?

you can't
i believe companies house used to allow years back as you still see companies with name.co.uk ltd

however they stopped that
also i believe in uk you cannot trademark a word.domain extension

both are allowed in the states

You can still use a domain name extension such as ".co.uk", but CH will now disregard it when validating whether the company name as unique. So for example, if you tried to register "Domain.co.uk Limited", but "Domain Limited" already existed, then CH will ignore the ".co.uk" part, and refuse the company name.
