Hi just wondering what are peoples opinions on registering other languages on cctld,s. I’ve seen English spelt words on many e.g. loans.de , loans.fr etc but not so much the other way around , I’m not sure they would list as high in the countries language it being a different cctld,s, That could be overcome and the keyword helping with listings, a colleague registered hypotheken.co.uk hypothek.co.uk which he said was mortgage and mortgages in German ?, I did see that nearly all the others countries had already been registered has he wasted the reg fee or is there some potential in this sort of registration mainly regarding .co.uk

I wonder if "punctuation" is available in other ccTLD's :)
That was hard work reading all that in one breath.

Thanks for your offer of secretarial services.

Send me your cv or call me.

For some reason when I copy and pasted in it appeared to take it out?

Shame you were so exhausted after reading to give an answer that was any help.

Maybe you should go to the gym.:)

don't do secretarial duties :) I'm useless at making tea.

I have seen quite a number of English language keyword .de's still available so I just assumed it was a vice versa thing. We don't want theirs and they don't want ours.

It's conceivable that neighbouring countries TLDs might get traffic from native words (ie: I have Angleterre.co.uk - which is the French for England) - they might visit .co.uk sites with their own words on occasion. Just like we have different names from countries in our own language (eg: Germany/Deutschland)...

Someone on here did a Spanish site .co.uk for 'Games'...

Sometimes it works. Generally it is English language keywords that tend to make the jump between most ccTLDs. However there is another effect - that of the Adjacent Markets. Companies in nearby countries selling into a particular country will often register their domain in that target market's ccTLD. This seems to be quite different to domainers registering domains and then parking them. Registering domains in ccTLDs in a non-local language is potentially a very hit and miss affair. Development is a lot more important in ccTLDs and they traditionally have a higher number of developed websites (as opposed to parked/coming soon etc).

Regards...jmcc
