Hi,

I've got two sites where I'm getting an unusual amount of traffic (e.g. 100+ per day) from the same IP or ISP provider, mainly called Staminus Communication and Steadfast Networks.

It repeatedly visits my site then bounces straight away.

I dont see how this is big enough to be a DDOS attack so I'm not sure what's going on?

Anyone have any experience or know what this is? Is it an SEO attack to try to lower my bounce rate?

Thanks.
Adam

I get unwanted traffic on all my sites, especially Acorn but most of my Wordpress sites too.

I block it using a .htaccess via IP address.

For Acorn I actually run the Apache access logs through a country IP identifier to see where the traffic comes from and block any regular IPs from countries who would have no interest in UK domains like China, India and the far east. I also block IPs who are hunting for Admin access files.

PM me their IP and I'll do a bit of digging for you.

staminus.net

Funnily enough they feature "ddos protection" on their homepage

Maybe they spam your site just enough to get your attention so you visit and maybe get their ddos protection

95% of the BOT traffic is coming from the exact same city/location in the US.

I'm emailing Staminus.net to get them to stop it.

A friend said it's also probably SEO spambots, maybe trying to post comments on our site or trying to find file names with a security risk.

Like Admin suggests block from HTaccess.I tend to block china etc as default anyway I have no interest in traffic from there.
