My wife woke me up at 6.30am this morning as she had just heard on Sky News.

I am literally gobsmacked and sitting here in shock. He was unquestionably the best music artist of all time.

I know there are alot of people who disliked him as a person, but PLEASE keep your hating out of this thread, as this is a thread to pay your respects ONLY.

RIP Michael, you will surely be missed by myself and my thoughts are with your children.

I heard the news last year when my girlfriend phoned me from a conference she was at.

was watching Sky News @ 11pm last night when one of "Breaking News" banners scrolled across the screen, you know one of 'hairs on the back of your neck stand up' moments

followed it the rest of the night in shock and disbelief, I grew up with his songs, went to see him @ wembley.

The greatest artist of all time, RIP Michael and I hope his kids get the privacy and security that they deserve

I was totally numbed when I saw it this morning, and then I began to think this was almost predestined. Whether he knew it or not Michael was on a self destruct the size of the Grand Canyon. There is no doubt he was the greatest entertainer the last 50 years has seen. I've just been watching the "Beat It" video, the incredibly innovate dance moves he choreographed back then are just as brilliant today as they were in the 80s.

People will say what they like about his personal life, none of us will ever know what went on behind closed doors, but they can't take his genius away from him. Dancers and singers alike have modeled their styles on him throughout the last few decades and few, if any, have touched anywhere near his genius. That's a pretty cool legacy to leave the world with.

Absolute tragedy and sent me over the edge earlier today on here for which I make no apology.

I met and spoke to him and Liz Taylor once (in one of the bedroom corridors at The Dorchester). Will never forget that. I had to get the hotel to change my room because of all the noisy fans outside all night.

Anyway, RIP Michael; certainly my life in 1982 would not have been the same without you.

I watched the story unfold last night on bbc news, they were saying is he dead or in a coma ?

I was absolutley shocked and thought i must be dreaming, i remember exactly where i was when princess di died and will always remember where i was when i heard this, which was at home but that breaking story will always be in my mind forever.

I think it is terrible that people are trying to make a quick buck out of this by selling the domains.

I regesitered neverland.tel when the extension was first launched in March 2009 as I have always been a big Michael Jackson fan.

I have added my tribute on the domain.

I wanted like to do this as I know that neverland was always a big part of his life, and will always be in his heart forever.

If anyone else would like to pay a tribute to michael jackson please e-mail me or PM and I will add it on for people to see.

It seems that some people are starting to follow the trend with other names on eBay:

On average I would say that there about 2000 results for "domain" on eBay (40 pages), but now there is 2807 results (52 pages) and most are MJ related.

It is such a shame as he was very talented and we had tickets to his concert this summer. His music will live on long after us!
