Sedo broker service

A few of you on the board know I've been after a new domain name and since the sale of the last one fell through I've found a couple on Sedo that I think I'll make an offer for. Which pretty much brings me to this question, is the Sedo broker service worth the money?

The last domain I contacted the owner direct and to be honest it's been three weeks of hassel. Would be interested to hear any feed back from people using the broker service, problems, praises?

if they are on sedo, just make an offer using the sedo make offer links.

Then its the seller who pays isn't it?

Or are you talking about names that Sedo isn't listing for sale but says it can acquire for you.

Its on Sedo at the moment however has no guide price or anything like that. Simply the 'make me an offer'.

I'm just curious to know if its worth the money to pay Sedo to do the haggling for me?

I owuldn't say so since their bidding system works more in favour of the buyer since the seller will never know your final bid unless you state it.

Plenty of us has lost sales this way.

Make an offer, they will have to accept or counter. See what their counter offer is...

Sorry, I've not used Sedo in anyway other than use their search/listings.

So basically, if I make an offer for example $1000, the seller could come back and say, no - but I'll take $1500?

Just finding out what I'm to expect during the process.

Yes exactly, make an opening bid, they may have set a minimum offer, maybe not.

After you have bid, they will be notified and can either accept or make a counter bid.

You can post comments too, so "this is my final offer" for example.

If you go through sedo, a domainer will naturally add 30% or just a couple of hundred more to the original asking price to offset cost and hassle of using a third party, well that's what I do. So use them if you don't mind paying more.

1. paperwork causes delays..I think should be faster now
2. money in escrow at sedo safe
3 any delay paperwork , in no way will sedo delay sending out money due .
4 you cannot beat domain wire transfer, co.uk is slow and for now have to accept it.
5 never sold a .com via sedo, anyone else know how fast sale/money is?

Well, just to let you guys know - I made an offer for the domain via Sedo, which was first rejected. I was then able to get the domain after a small bid exchange. Happy with the price I've paid - which is the main thing. Lets hope the transfer etc all goes smoothly... it's not over till the fat lady sings.

Just an update.. domain was transfered to us over the weekend. Very pleased with the service and seemed rather painless

I didn't actually get a reply to any of the emails I sent though - which was a bit concerning(!)
