Agree with the comments made in general. But, had this been a .com sale at say £10k+ I don't think anybody would have been surpised. Obviously its a straight to end user sale and I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't linked to ownership of the .com

Haha, maybe they have a legitimate reason for needing it, but I agree. I have plenty of brandable domains that I take a look at when I see sales like this, and think 'i better hold onto that'.
