Haven't read the article about it but I think that is interesting.

Say for instance someone somewhere discovered a whole massive mountain full to the brim of gold.

Gold has value because it's rare, if this massive amount of gold was found it wouldn't be as rare anymore so it would have less value.. so whoever found it would do well not to tell anyone about it and mine it little bit by little bit.

I often think the same about oil. If they found a massive amount of oil they wouldn't drill it because then the value of oil would plummet.. it's not in oil producers advantage.
