I would have snapped that domain up if I wasn't on an economy drive.

However, as I'm not going to buy it...

I would say that you should hold on to it, there's some upcoming deregulation of the industry that means there will be many more people able to run solicitor firms; not just solicitors. This means that there will be many new companies that need to establish national brands, I bet at least one of those will want to do that through a generic and TV ads...

It'll take a bit of research for you to find the right buyer but it could net you a lot more than high £xxx.

I'm sure you'll have found solicitors are not the best to sell generic domains to, but the new type of owner will approach things in a different way (recruit many newly-qualified solicitors to do "commodity" services under a brand that's entirely new or one that is not known nationally - by buying a local business and expanding it so they can say it's been established ages)

I'd suggest trying to find the exact details of the changes (can't recall exactly what or when).

Really appreciate the reply, rep added, i wasn't aware of the new regs, i did actually have a deal with a solicitor to buy it for a whole lot more , but he just messed me around,despite confirming via email the price,details etc, i am only selling it now as i am looking to raise funds for upcoming house rennovation, if i can't sell then i will definately hold for much higher in the future,again i really appreciate your detailed reply.

Theres no deregulation of the industry. Quite the opposite. What you are referring to is the new ABS structures or commonly known as "tesco law".

The LSB who is meant to be regulating these new ABS's has put back the date from which it will be ready to regulate these new entities.

Its all a big stinking mess atm especially with the current civil costs bill sneaking its way thru parliament.

There will be no sudden rush of companies into this new form of business all realising they need quality domains.

Solicitors.tv is nice but if you get a offer above £600 I'd take it.

I thought about offering a small sum myself for it. However I've enough legal domains, the sectors a total nightmare and solicitors are totally the biggest most backwards thinking, unreliable & compliance driven people in business you could ever have the misfortune of actually trying to deal with when it comes to their own marketing.

Appreciate your thoughts, but .tv names are used a lot more than just advertising on TV, many videocentric sites now use .tv aswell as everyday sites, it hurts me to use them as an example but liverpoolfc.tv are a good example of this

I recently sold another .tv under NDA for more than that, and have sold many in the £x,xxx range too, i see names like cv.tv using .tv like it should be, the market for endusers buying .tv is very active, been many many good sales.

Re the comment that deregulation is not happening, well I may have used the wrong term but it's clear that more people and more money will be able to flow into newly expanded companies from 6th October:

That's pretty important, and I'd say my thoughts are still valid.

I agree that solicitors are a nightmare when it comes to online stuff, but the whole point of my post was to point out that people who favour modern marketing methods will inevitably come into the industry as they shake up the delivery of some common legal services.

So it might be further regulations, but those are aimed at opening up the market.
