I'm interested in buying a quite generic domain with a org.uk tld, the idea behind buying the domain is creating a forum related to this domain. I thought that as the co.uk is not availbe and would probalby cost a fortune, the org.uk one would also be good.

But I was wondering how org.uk is seen in the UK, if it's taken "seriously"? As org stand for organisation I guess, would it give some "authority"?

I think they will be good for non profit forums.
Particularly if the keywords relate more to non commercial.

If you're thinking about doing it to help you rank for the exact match phrase... then that ship has long sailed and you missed it.

If your forum legitimately fits in with 'non profit' or 'helpful organisation' type stuff... then maybe the .org.uk would fit for you.

If its something like footballforum.org.uk then I wouldn't go anywhere near it. Get a decent brandable .co.uk

Agree with this.... although debatable whether exact-match doesn't help in all cases.

Would defo go brandable .co.uk over org.uk either way (for anything that isn't non-profit) though.
